I received a speeding ticket two years and eight months ago I was going 70 in a 45 on the interstate. I’m trying to go through a company that helps you get your CDL plus training I was wondering would anyone hire me being that this is the only thing on my record at all?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

Wrong.

3 years. Was your license suspended? Any other tickets in the last 3 years? Did you have to take a class. 25 over is a lot. Look through the company reviews on here. You’ll get an idea of what your going to have to deal with.

Lela, you don't need a company that 'helps' you get your CDL. You need one that will HIRE you, bring you in, and PROVIDE you training, AND a Job!

Being young(er) at 24, with a 25 over . . . is .... a stretch. IMHO, you might be wasting money on that 'private' type school. Apply for COMPANY PAID TRAINING on this link below, and see if anyone bites. DISCLOSE EVERYTHING, ticket, suspension, etc.... always.

Wish you luck; I'd start here, being you:

Paid CDL Training Programs

And, in preparation of such; here's this:

High Road CDL Training Program

Lastly, read this free online book, to see if this is really for you:

Again, wish you well~!!!

25 mph over is reckless driving.

70 in a 45? Seriously? Where was the fire?

And what interstate has a limit of 45 unless in a construction zone which is worse!

You are going to have to wait another year to get decent offers. As Pack rat said that is reckless driving and then some.

Please take this more seriously. When people say "this is the only thing on my record at all"... It shows a degree of disrespect for the potential to kill. And it shows ignorance that there are millions of drivers who have no infractions for decades with whom you are competing.

Apply everywhere and good luck. It wont be easy.

I really hope that was a situation where you didnt realize the speed limit dropped although it doesnt make it any better. Keep in mind once you're CDL holder there are only 2 outcomes to any moving violations. You're either guilty and pay a fine and take the points, or you're found not guilty/ charges dropped. There is no traffic school or pleading down to a non moving violation like an equipment violation.

I35 where it hooks up with 70 in KC MO, as well as 35E in St Paul MN(not a truck route) are 2 that come to mind for the areas I run. Both areas are definitely NOT safe to be running at 70 regardless of what the posted speed is.

The Brooklyn Queens expressway in NYC has a 45 MPH speed limit and so do a lot of the bridges.
