I'm not trying to bring up politics but I am curious on what the impact would be in the trucking industry between Democrat and Republican governments. I'm interested in some insight on both worlds or if neither has any impact at all!

EPU:

Electric Auxiliary Power Units

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

Democrats like to eat and buy things just as much as Republicans. Don't give it a thought. Trucks roll and deliver goods under all kinds of circumstances. It's hard for some to understand, but as a trucker, I made more money during a "pandemic" than I had during the "best of times."

Any trucker worth his salt will find they can prosper while disregarding the mad obsessions some folks have with the nation's current affairs. You have a fair question, but it's only because you are new to this. Don't let politics keep you from enjoying this rewarding career. Truck drivers control their own destinies. Career politicians control far less than we give them credit for.

Get ready for your fuel costs to skyrocket, your deductions to go down and your micromanagment to escalate.

What Old School said...you’ll have a lot of people trying to push their beliefs as to how bad or good it is under one party...don’t believe the hype..

I've thought about it, also. . . in the vicinity ~! ;)

"The 50-square-mile stretch of Yellowstone National Park that spills over Idaho's border is a legal no-man's land. It's an isolated spot, one devoid of roads or any permanent human inhabitants. It's also missing legislation to allow people to be charged with serious crimes."

Very well said O/S. That is the bottom line for sure. Auggie brings up a good point though.

Fuel will likely go up. How fast and how much remains to be seen. I know my taxes will go up. Again how fast remains the mystery. Those things will effect our bottom lines for sure.

Every year we have a presidential election it is a roller coster ride because of uncertainty. One thing I have noticied is the construction going on all over. I see it at many of our customers, IE paper plants, chemical plants and such. I see huge DC’s being built. These construction plans take years to olan and implement. So big business’s have been looking at expansion for several years. They didn’t plan those projects quickly as a result of one political party or another being in temp control.

Some business’s, like the oil industry is more effected than others though. Last year Stevens Transport closed down their entire tank division because the industry was falling off. That was a good size hit to many drivers.

General freight will still go on, the only variable will be capacity.
