If you ever park at the T/A or Loves in Troutdale, OR (east side of Portland) do yourself a favor and walk up the hill behind the outlet mall. There's a few neat places there, but Ristorante Di Pompello is some amazing italian food.

Used to hit it up everytime we ran fedex up there.

Eagle's Landing Pilot in Beaver, UT. There's a Mexican restaurant inside with top notch food.

I can confirm this and it's reasonably priced too!

Moon Palace, I-80 and Allegheny Blvd in Brookville, PA. Great Chinese food. The truck parking is sufficient for maybe 10 trucks, but I never see more than 3 or 4 at a time. If Chinese food isn't your palatial preference, on the other side of the parking lot is a good old country diner. The diner has a buffet on select weekends, but buffet or not, it's pretty good food. Down the street is a TA and a Flying J. I will often fuel and shower at the Flying J and then park for my 10 at the Moon Palace.

Just found a place today that I want to add. Smokin' Butts BBQ, I-75, exit 141 in Pioneer, TN. The lot is huge with probably 50-60 parking spaces. I don't know about the food yet, but any place with a big lot and plenty of room for parking is a win in mind.

Found another one today. I-75, exit 49 in Ochopee, FL. It's a section of I-75 that runs east/west in South Florida (geographically, not officially). It's on an Indian reservation and a nice spot for truck parking. Definitely out of the way for most people down in Florida. It works great for me because I completed a load in Boca Raton earlier today and have a relay load coming to me out of Sarasota, FL. Needed to find a spot with adequate room to switch trailers and the other driver needs a decent place for a 34.

Ryan B.,

That would be the Miccosukee Service Plaza at I75 exit 49 Fl. State Route 84. A fairly decent place to stop before the east coast nightmare of So. Florida along I-95.

I-84 at MM 71 in Idaho, "The Boise Stage Stop". As the place has done for many Thanksgivings, all drivers get a FREE MEAL today, just show your CDL and it's on the house. Always lots of parking unless there's a blizzard.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
