You drive pretty dang fast to make it through that many states today! :)

The downdetector is filled with actual people reporting outages, no hype. CNET said if people rebooted their phone that seemed to help but it didn't help me.

Current Downdetector page shows it is almost back to normal now and mine is working fine.

I have both Verizon and T mobile .. went through WA, OR. UT, WY IA MO KY IL TN.... No issues

Probably hype just like masks 😂

The outage maybe started last night or this morning, biggest hit started at 9:15am Pacific. I know you team when training, hope you can sleep well.

LOL, so all of the scams come from outside of California?

It seems Verizon is hardest hit but searches show all carriers are having some troubles. Verizon is apparently hardest hit in California, maybe on some satellites affected: https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/verizon-wireless-customers-report-outages-across-us/

The front page of https://downdetector.com/ shows all carriers were affected but that the outages are declining. I only posted this in case you were having problems that you couldn't figure out. My tractor mechanic was having troubles and I told him I just had some troubles and Linda said Michael had text her about the issue. I tried calling my mechanic standing right next to me as a test and got "invalid number". Some people were guessing the Russian hackers might be at work but most placed the blame on solar flares.

FYI - if I move out of California it will be due to the politics and taxes here, not the problems with mobile service, LOL The weather here seems to nice to justify leaving .... yet.

Must be a Kookie-Fornia thing. I've experienced no issues. The various telemarketing scam calls still making it through to the junk box today.

I would not live there at all, regardless of the aliens, corruption, government, taxes, prices, blackouts, or cell phone problems.

I have 37 more reasons, but I'll stop here.

Harvey, I know those solar flairs can have negative effects on human communication technology. Interesting topic because drivers are so reliant on wireless technology.

My personal opinion is that all trucking companies should provide the driver with these 3 items:

1) EDL, already done

2) Cell phone

3) Back up cell phone.

Interesting topic, indeed!!

Just getting Tom off to work, and shared this thread with him; he just revealed that his QC had zero text ability yesterday (and yes it's the Qualcomm brand) and he couldn't get his DVIR to send last night upon arrival home.

He's just now, jumping in the rig and logging in to the QC, and saying that last night's DVIR finally (now) went through....he notated the late delivery of said message. There were NO issues to report, he just does it at the end of the day in habit.

BK, until this year, FAB provided Tom with a company cell phone. It was a 'flip fone' but he loved it, actually. Now that his ELD has 'speak' capabilities, just like a cell phone, they saw no need to keep the flip active. Bummer, for sure. I definitely AGREE WITH YOU, 1000%!

Interesting, eh? Right after the 'pink' moon, too!!! Chief Brody had great pix of the 'bat moon' a few weeks back; couldn't see the 'pink moon' thru the trees around here, and didn't feel like walking or even atv'ing a mile or two. Oh well!

Be safe, fellow drivers/compadres! Great to see Rainy/Kearsey back up in here more often, too!

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

Where I’m now working we rely on smoke signals and semaphore.

They don’t call it Lower Slower Delaware for nothing.

Hey, some of those Navy flags my dad (or brother?) had were pretty cool!

Now, it's semaphore and seraphim, hahahaha!

I have Verizon and had major issues yesterday in Colorado. Had a buddy up in Utah yesterday with Verizon with the same issues. We could text and use data but couldn’t make phone calls for a good chunk of the day. Another friend in Colorado Springs had the same problems. Everything seems to be working fine today
