Really got a shock today when my FM called me and told me my license has been suspended by Wisconsin. I was allowed to get to the nearest truck stop, but now I’m out of service until I get this fixed. The company is sending a bobtail to take my trailer to delivery in NC.

last year in March, I had a fresh physical and got a one year card. That superseded my FedMed card that I had at orientation, so I needed to register the new FedMed card with Wisconsin. Somehow the paperwork was lost and Wisconsin DMV says they didn’t get the update. So when my Wisconsin Med card expired a few weeks ago, it set in motion the suspension.

I’m currently trying to contact WI DMV to see how soon I can get reinstated. My company says anywhere from 1 to 10 days. Until then, I sit here at Pilot in Roland, OK.

Here I sit, broken-hearted Came to drive But can’t get started. confused.gif confused.gif embarrassed.gif shocked.png

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

If submitted online, always follow up to verify that it has been updated in the system. Don't just "set it and forget it." (Ron Popeil wave cooking system tv infomercial reference.)

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Sorry this happened BK.

For newcomers reading this...

This has become a tricky little area for CDL drivers. Each time you get a new physical done you must self certify it with your state. I have found the two best ways in my state (TX), are to walk it into a DMV office and have them scan it into their system while I'm standing there with the clerk, or email it to the specific email address the state provides. I always follow up the email one week later with a phone call, verifying the new expiration date.

I never trust the state to handle important documents efficiently. I do take measures to hold them accountable.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I've worked at companies that forwarded the medical info paperwork updates to my state DMV , but I've also had others where I had to walk it to the DMV in person.

Thank you, gentlemen. I don’t know where the snafu happened, but as pointed out, I should have taken personal responsibility and physically delivered the FedMed card to my state DMV. I was in Wisconsin numerous times in 2022, so I have no excuse except for rookie ignorance.

This is a hard lesson for me because i disappointed my FM and my company. It really wrecked havoc on several deliveries today. I was on my way to rescue a load in AR and then that load had to be re-rescued plus my load had to be rescued. I feel like crap.

Whoopsie-doodle!

I was afraid of that very scenario when I got my last med card. Apparently NC sends out a paper confirmation that the new exp date/card has been attached! Wish my at home mail handler would have told me that was sitting there for two weeks 🤣

Had that issue at the Fontana Cal. DMV office, IN PERSON!, Gave them my new medical at the counter. Well, THAT day, just so happened their WHOLE system crashed !! They told me they would input it once their system was back up and running. Not knowing better, they never gave me a receipt for the paperwork, and told me I was good to go.

Fast forward a week or so, and my DM call's me to tell me my med card wasn't showing renewed. We were in Texas, so I had to get ahold of the DMV by phone, which took hours. Finally, I get an answer, and just MY luck, my papers got lost on the bottom of the pile somehow. It took a supervisor to do some hunting to locate my med card papers. They got it fixed right up THEN lol. Also that crash day, everyone out on the testing pad etc so they couldn't get their stuff entered. Funny out of how many others MINE happens to get misplaced HAHAHA.....

Hope yours get you fixed up SOON BK, it's now costing you money, not making it sitting.
