Well the power supply will suck 850 Watts, add your screen and add 15 Watts, say.
Most plug-in inverters top out at 150-200W. That can't touch the 900 you need.
Prime trucks come with an inverter that can handle that.
Don't know if she still does but Allie Knight used to have her full desk top in her truck. Another option is to buy a small generator. Where there's a will there's a way. YouTube may have many ideas. Good luck. Also there are YouTubers who drive for knight and have video games and lap tops. Maybe they can help you. TheLittleGuyShow is one of them.
I'll just get a laptop. Surely the truck can handle that
I have a Chromebook with me. Does everything I need. Plus low data usage compared to a Windows machine. No pesky Windows updates to gobble up your mobile tethering data in 30 minutes!
Your power supply is only drawing enough wattage to get the job done. If you are stressing the CPU and have a high power drawing graphics card that is also maxing out you may get close to that 850 watt but I doubt it. It all depends on your specific hardware setup and how hard you crank it. This problem is mostly for purpose built gaming rigs. Newer hardware uses much less power than just a couple of years ago. The link below is an online PC power calculator that gives an estimate of power used.
I'd be worried about space anyway. I have an inverter but use the laptop.
I build computers as a hobby and I'll say this. Pcs produce a ton of heat. The motherboard, ram, cpu, power supply and gpu if you're into gaming will keep your cab nice and toasty. I don't know if you game or not but I do or did anyway. Best way to keep your pc working is in a well ventilated area so the parts don't over heat. Also keep in mind the watts needed to run everything. It probably won't be impossible since you won't be on it 24/7

That's the best plan, or a tablet.

Just wondering if it's possible to run a full tower computer in a truck. Knight does not allow inverters to be hard wired, so i'll have to get a smaller inverter, but I dont know if they are usually powerful enough to run a personal desktop computer. My power supply is the Corsair HX850i.

Not sure if this is possible from an inverter plugged into the power outlet on the truck. Thoughts?
